Help Clean Up The Gulf Of Mexico
Contribute to removing over 42,000 cubic feet of trash every year from our beaches and oceans.
Did you know that a 2017 marine survey concluded the Gulf of Mexico has one of the highest concentrations of marine trash reported worldwide? Another Study in 2019 found that Texas gets 10 times as much debris on our beaches as the other gulf states. We are at the crossroads of a major crisis and an opportunity to take action and make a noticeable impact on our environment, wildlife and local tourist economies.
A primary organizational goal is the major reduction in trash/debris on our beaches, in our bays and the Gulf of Mexico. While the current beach cleanups across Texas help a lot, the solutions have not scaled to meet the size of the problem. One of the best times to remove trash is while it is onshore. It is much more economical than collecting debris at sea and transporting it to shore for disposal. The Tropical Maniac Foundation seeks to fill that gap and create scalable solutions to the trash crisis in The Gulf of Mexico and beyond.
